She Persisted Around the World: 13 Women Who Changed History
She Persisted Around the World is written by Chelsea Clinton and illustrated by Alexandra Boiger. It tells nonfictional stories of “13 women who changed history,” like Yuan Yuan Tan, Sissi, and Viola Desmond. Yuan Yuan Tan is a ballet dancer who improved ballet. Sissi is a soccer player who made a difference for girls playing soccer. Viola Desmond is a girl who said that it was “her right to sit wherever she wanted,” just like the girls who were sent to jail because they were sitting at a lunch counter. There is no single plot to this book. I think this book is about inspiring women and that is something very cool to read about. This is cool because I might change history—I might become a computer coder! I noticed that the words “she persisted” were written in big letters every time they appeared. Those words almost say themselves. Girls of any age who want to be inspired and who want to change history are going to want to read this book!
