Lucia the Luchadora
A girl named Lucia runs around the playground playing superheroes, but the boys say that a girl cannot be a superhero. This makes Lucia feel sad. Lucia’s abuela (grandmother), tells her about the secret Luchadoras. A Luchadora is a special kind of superhero who always fights for what is right and never reveals her identity. Abuela gives Lucia a special silver mask and cape. Lucia is now Lucia the Luchadora. Lucia can do amazing things on the playground, and she gets everyone’s attention, even the boys who don’t think a girl can be super.
I loved Lucia the Luchadora because it is teaching that you can be whatever you want to be. I liked the illustrations, especially when Lucia says she is spicy mad and she is surrounded by peppers. The illustrations make you feel like the actions are jumping off the page. I would recommend Lucia the Luchadora to girls who want to be something that others say they can’t.
