Into the Wild : Yet Another Misadventure
I have read a lot of books by Doreen Cronin, including Click Clack Moo. I think her books are funny and good. The other books by Doreen Cronin that I have read were picture books, but this one is a chapter book. It is part of a series called The Chicken Squad series. In this book, the chicken named Sweetie (real name: Sweet Coconut Louise) transforms into a detective. There are also friends named Dirt, Sugar, and Poppy who are detectives, too. They have different specialties like “watching the shoe” and “breaking and entering.” My favorite is Dirt’s specialities which are “foreign languages, math, colors, and computer codes.”
I like that this book is about chickens with human qualities! My favorite part of this book is when Sweetie has a fake mustache: “She turned around wearing her fake mustache and a belt made out of marshmallows.” I also like Dirt’s journal entry which is like a poem. This book is so creative, and the illustrations help tell the story. I recommend this book to kids who LOVE chickens!
