Maisy’s Field Day
This story is about something like a field day. The main characters in this story are Maisy, Cyril, Tallulah, and Charley. They are participating in LOTS of games (like a get-dressed-up-silly game and a three legged race) at field day. One thing in this story that I really liked was when they had the egg and spoon race and I thought that was pretty funny. I thought it was funny because running with an egg and a spoon in your hand looks hilarious. I also liked the part where Maisy encouraged Eddie, who dropped his egg. Maisy said, “Don’t worry. There are plenty of other games to play.” There really wasn’t anything about this story that I didn’t like. I would describe the illustrations in this story as being very bright and colorful. They really make field day look like a lot of fun. A quote in this book that I really liked was by Ostrich when she said, “The first race of the day is…the egg-and-spoon race!” I think that readers who are boys and girls, around 5 years old, and who like games would enjoy this story.
