Pop-up New York (Lonely Planet Kids)
This is a book about New York City in pop-ups that help you learn more about the city. There weren’t any characters in this book, so I became a character! Since I’m the only character, I’m also the reader and there really isn’t a plot or any conflicts in the book. One example of a pop-up in this book is the Empire State Building. I learned that you have to climb 1,576 steps to get to the observation deck on the 86 floor. Or, you could just take the elevator! Another example of a pop-up is a yellow cab. I learned that there are over 13,000 yellow cabs in New York City! My absolute favorite pop-up is the Central Park pop-up. And I really liked this quote from the book: “Central Park has appeared in over 240 movies.” I liked everything about this book. The illustrations were not actual photographs, but were very pretty drawings and paintings. I think that boys and girls who would like to go to New York would really enjoy this book.
