Leif the Lucky
Leif was Erik the Red’s son, and he sailed to many places. He lived in Iceland and then in Greenland, because Erik the Red journeyed there. Leif liked to hunt and explore. When he grew up, he got a ship and sailed back to Iceland and then he went to a new land that he called Vinland, but we call it Canada. So he found Canada. He and his people started to live there, but they couldn’t stay because the people that lived there kept fighting them. So Leif became the ruler in Greenland instead, and they just sent ships there to get the wood.
This is a good book to learn about Leif Erikson, who discovered North America. He was called Leif the Lucky because his ship didn’t sink and he found the new land. The pictures have a lot of detail. They look like they were written by crayon, and they have lots of creatures and goblins and dwarfs and other things in the drawings that are really cool. And there is a lot more to the story I left out, so if you want to know what it is, you will have to read it for yourself!
