The Poisons We Drink

We rated this book:

Venus is a witch. Even worse, she is a witch with a dark and dangerous magic inside of her. To add to that, she is in the illegal love potion brewing business. Venus is already struggling, but when an enemy’s iron bullet kills her mother, Venus breaks. Keeping her crazy and irresponsible little sister, Janus, safe is now her responsibility.

When the powerful grandwitch of Venus’s coven offers her the chance to punish her mother’s killer, she discovers that she has to pay a steep price for her revenge. The price? Venus now has to brew poisonous potions to enslave the most influential people of Washington, DC. As Venus crawls deeper into her corrupt city, the line between magic and power blurs and she can’t tell who to trust… herself included.

The Poisons We Drink is perfect for my age group (thirteen to sixteen). This book has loads of twists and turns that make it interesting and complex. The main character has a really awesome backstory and the author built her character well. I love this book so much and I just know that others are going to love it too. This one is definitely getting added to my personal collection!
