Thoroughly true to its time, The Last White Rose is a marvelous piece of historical fiction. Spanning the period from the end of the War of the Roses to the death of Elizabeth of York, the book gives a beautiful glimpse into the life of a Tudor monarch.

There are lessons inherent in The Last White Rose that apply to the life of anyone, and this book really makes the reader think about the weight of ruling a kingdom. Anyone from teens upward could easily enjoy this story. College and high-school libraries should have copies, in addition to local library systems. This is a good book to choose to buy, as I feel that it is the sort of book that you will be able to perceive in different ways at different times. This would add a great element of fun to a number of high-school courses.

If you enjoy historical fiction, I recommend this book. In addition, readers who enjoy fantasy with court intrigue and fights over thrones would love this story. This is a book that gives the reader a great sense of history and is definitely more closely tied to history than some historical fiction. Alison Weir is a marvelous author.
