House of Marionne
House of Marionne is a young adult book about teenage magician, Quell. Quell and her mother have been on the run for a long time. Due to the dangerous magic in her veins, Quell has never been able to settle down with her mother or have any type of stable childhood at all. If she gets caught, both her mother and herself will be put to death. When someone discovers Quell’s secret, she has to find a way to protect her mother as well as herself.
That’s when she finds the Order, a group of hidden magical social elites. Quell jumps at the chance to learn how to use her magic so that she can protect her mother, but when she gets assigned to a less than kind mentor who was originally sent to kill her and discovers the secrets of the order, Quell has to make a choice: keep quiet and play along, or risk it all for justice.
House of Marionne has a great story line and is very intriguing, but the book seemed to move too fast for me. It is a great book for those who enjoyed Legendborn and other books in the fantasy fiction genre. It is not appropriate for children younger than fourteen. Overall, I think this is a very good book that many will enjoy when they are old enough to understand it.
