Cat is living his life and not thinking there’s anything wrong with what he says or does. However, his friends have different opinions and advise each other – Don’t Ask Cat!. When the friends ask Cat a question, they don’t usually hear the answer that makes them feel good; instead, it usually makes them feel bad. Cat doesn’t see anything wrong with what he says – he’s just answering their questions honestly! After thinking about what he is about to say instead of blurting it out right away, he learns to protect his friends’ feelings so everyone can feel better and get along.

Don’t Ask Cat! teaches about being impulsive and the importance of working on how to keep friendships positive and not get in trouble – this lesson is appropriate and important for all ages of readers. This is not a subject I had thought much about before reading this story, but afterward, I understand better and will remember these examples in my daily encounters with friends and others. The pictures in the story are full of bright colors and engaging to readers. Don’t Ask Cat! should be read by or to all ages to keep feelings from being hurt and people happier!
