Shannon has just started eighth grade, and things are finally getting better. She has just joined drama class and she’s making good friends. The only thing is, though, it seems all the girls in school want to be popular, pretty, and liked by boys. At home, her parents seem to only love her when she’s successful. Shannon tries as hard as she can, both at home and school, but she never feels okay. As Shannon’s anxiety gets worse, she begins to wonder if she’ll ever be perfect, ever be enough, and most importantly, ever feel happy, just the way she is?

I love Friends Forever! I can’t believe Shannon dealt with all these things in junior high. Both school and home can be very stressful sometimes. It’s sad that this is the last book in the series. Shannon is a great main character, and I liked it when she debated for women’s equality in the book. I recommend this book to tweens or teens who are interested in books about friendships and for those who love the previous books in the series.
