The Rule of Many (The Rule of One)
This is an action-packed dystopian story that weaves in some real issues we face today. Identical twins Ava and Mira live as one person in a future where the Rule of One is the law. But when they are discovered, they become fugitives simply for existing. After finding a safe haven in Canada, they choose to leave and join the rebellion to work on changing the law. The story is well-written and descriptive, although sometimes parts of the story are not always believable. There is a good amount of swearing, which I think took away from the story and was not needed. The story is told from several points of view in addition to the girls’ perspectives, which makes the story more interesting, but sometimes a bit confusing, and not all the characters are very developed. The main characters are likeable, well-developed, and compelling. You will cheer for the twins to win. At times the introduction of new characters was confusing, and they were not as well-developed as they could be. This fast paced story will appeal to young adult readers of all ages. The story pulls you in, and you will anxiously await the next one.
