Walter Plume and the Dehydrated Imagination

Walter is a kid. He gets out of the car like he’s not supposed to, and green grass grows under his feet. The garden is dead and crummy, but when Walter touches things, they come to life again. Then they go dead again when he removes his foot. Walter finds an origami lion that gives him advice, like “Two are better than one.” (Who wouldn’t want an origami lion like that?)

Walter meets an elf. She thinks he can bring the garden back to life. The elves are Fantasies. Snot-hook is the bad guy, because he drank from the Fountain of Moxie, and it made him evil. He doesn’t like pretty things or fun. He likes everything his way. His minions have a checkmark on the back of their hands. Will Walter help the elves? Read the book to find out.

I was glad this book didn’t have pictures, because you could imagine it. The Fountain of Whimsy was my favorite. Walter’s magic power has consequences. The book is funny, exciting, and imaginative. Some of the story didn’t make sense. I’d like to visit a world like this – but not alone. People who like magic fairytales might like this book. My favorite part is when Walter says, “There must be a hole in my booty.” That was pretty funny.
