Mermaid Kingdom: Secrets Beneath the Sea
Have you ever wanted to learn about mermaid life? Now’s your chance! This book is divided into three parts: the first is narrated by Shyanna Angler, the second is told by Rachel Marlin, and the third is narrated by Cora Bass. They are all mermaids who live in Neptunia, a part of the Mermaid Kingdom. Shyanna is supposed to sing in the Melody Pageant, but discovers she has laryngitis. To solve her problem, Shyanna needs a red dwarf mussel shell. Will it work? Rachel, who is half human, is missing her human friend, Owen, every day, so she considers turning into a human. Is that her only option, though? Cora really wants to join the Spirit Squad. She makes it, but Rachel doesn’t. Rachel is good, but the leader of the Spirit Squad knows her secret. Is there a way for them to both make the squad?
I liked this book because all the stories were exciting, and the illustrations were very beautiful. This book would be better, though, if it explained how mermaids can do certain things, like use cell phones and drink tea, if they’re underwater.
