Reach for the Moon, Little Lion
A young lion is much smaller than everyone else. The others make fun of him, especially the leopard, the hippo, and the crocodile. They tell him that lions should be so big that they could reach the moon. He can’t, so he may possibly be a mouse. One day as he sits sadly by himself, a raven sees him and asks what is the matter. The little lion tells him he would like to touch the moon with his paw, and the raven has an idea. The next day, the raven tells all the animals that something important is about to happen at the nearby hill. The lion is already there, and when he tries to reach the moon, like the raven told him to do, from the bottom of the hill it looks like he’s actually touching it. Everyone is very impressed, and they stop making fun of him. I liked this book! It happens sometimes at my school that big kids make fun of the little ones, and I liked that the raven and the lion out-smarted the other animals so they would stop making fun of him.
