Big Dog and Little Dog (Reader) (Green Light Readers Level 1)
Big Dog and Little Dog is a short book about two dogs. The two dogs live together in a house. They like each other, and play with each other, and do things together. They want food, so their owner gives them food. They are both full and sleepy so they get into their own beds. But they are both lonely so they snuggle up together.
The book uses very simple words and short sentences to tell the story. It teaches about opposites such as big and small, and hungry and full. It also teaches about friendship. There are bonus skill-building activities in the back of the book. The activities teach about nouns and verbs, allow the reader to work on sequencing a story, reveal some interesting dog facts, and there is an exercise on matching words with pictures. I liked the book because the pictures are simply drawn and get the point of the story across without too much clutter. This book is targeted for kindergarteners, but would be good for younger readers as well.
