The ruler in Indonesia was a general who treated the people very badly and put people in jail if they complained. So one boy’s father wrote a play against the general. The boy got a part in the play, too. Lots of people came to see it, so that made the general really mad, and he sent his guards to arrest the boy’s dad. But when they came, the dad had already escaped. The boy had to hide, too, so he ended up spending the night in the planetarium.

I like this book. This is a true story, and I like how the people acted and what they did. It was really important that they spoke up against the general and that they weren’t afraid even though they might be arrested. I liked learning what it was like for people to be living in a place with a bad ruler. I was also really glad to learn that the boy and his father were okay in the end and that finally the general wasn’t the ruler anymore. The pictures are interesting, too. This is a good book to learn about other places and things you can do when there is a bad ruler.
