Digger and Daisy Go Camping (I AM A READER: Digger and Daisy)
Part of a series of early readers, Digger and Daisy Go Camping is a funny book about camping. Digger’s a little brother who is scared a lot and Daisy is his big sister. The two dogs go camping and hear things. Digger doesn’t know what a bear sounds like, and he imagines every noise he hears is a bear’s growling. Daisy says the noise is not a bear and tries to make him feel better.
I think this is a good book for younger kids, maybe in kindergarten. There are not many words on each page, and the words are easy to read. I think the story should be longer, and it’s not really very interesting. The pictures are big. I like the illustrations of the dogs since the drawings are cartoons. I like that it’s about camping and that it’s funny, like when Daisy is roasting marshmallows in a campfire, and Digger is roasting Milkbones. It has a good, funny ending, which is the best part when Daisy finally looks scared. So little kids just learning to read may like to read this easy book to themselves.
