As an infant, “Stormi” blew into town in a tornado and was raised by the woman whose lawn she landed on. The town she grows up in has a secret past. As a teenager, she learns about the secret as well as the connection she has to it. Told in the past tense to the very end, this is a suspenseful story that remains unpredictable to the end. Everything that happens keeps you moving through the novel and keeps you looking forward to turning the next page. It ends with a cliffhanger that leaves the reader both trying to create their own ending and wishing for a sequel. But I don’t think there should be a sequel, and I loved how he left the ending open. There are so many possibilities he leaves you with.
The author has a calm and descriptive writing style. His artful combinations of words make boring things seem brighter and interesting. I enjoyed this novel so much that I will seek out more works by this author.
