The Gospel of Winter
If you are a fan of Ellen Hopkins, you will love The Gospel of Winter by Brendan Kiely, who has written an emotionally intense story of a guy’s personal life filled with an unstable home, abuse from the church, and a loner personality. All this combined causes a toxic relationship with himself as he works through a period of Adderall misuse and alcohol to chase his thoughts away. No amount of his family’s money can keep his life from crumbling down.
You will feel every emotion surface as you read through this book, and somehow feel that Aiden’s ordeal is so much more worse than broken girl stories. There is something about a story that shows guys in a way rarely seen to pull on every sense and desperately want to help. You will feel Aiden’s pain, his despair as he realizes he has nobody he can turn too, and nobody he can trust, and shadow him as he tries to pull himself out of the darkness any which way he can. You won’t be able to put this book down, so make sure you pick it up!
