The Apprentice Witch
Arianwyn is a girl who lives with her grandmother. Grandmother is on the Council of Elders. Arianwyn takes a test to try to become a witch. The machine blows up during her evaluation. She gets a bronze moon and stays an apprentice witch. Arianwyn gets The Apprentice Witch’s Handbook from her grandmother’s bookshop. She gets a job in Lull, a town near The Great Wood. It has lots of magic, so it’s not a good place for an inexperienced witch. Arianwyn has to burn hex with the fire glyph. She makes charms to help people and protect them. Will she become a full witch? Read the book to find out.
I have mixed feelings about this book. I think my favorite character is Estar. He is blue. I like the spirit lantern. It’s like a camera for spirits, but it looks like a lantern. I like most of the magical creatures in the book.
I have a lot of questions. How did Gimma pass the test? Where did Grandmother go on her mysterious trips? Why do so many characters yell? That’s not fun.
I might read a sequel since it got better at the end of the book. This book is funny, exciting, and a little upsetting.
