Piper Green and the Fairy Tree: The Sea Pony
One day a big ship carrying a pony comes to the island where Piper lives. Piper thinks it should be hers because she wished for it, although she got a whistle instead of a pony. Then her father tells her she can go fishing with him in the neighbor’s boat because a big storm had blown her father’s ship away. While they are out at sea, she blows her whistle and a seal comes and follows Piper. Piper says it is a Sea Pony. When the seal catches her whistle, they follow it to a different island, and there is Piper’s father’s boat! So Piper got a friend, and her father got his boat back. Finally, the lady who owned the pony came over and gave Piper a ride, too.
This book is short and easy to read, and it is also fun and a cute, funny story. Piper kept blowing her whistle, which annoyed everyone on the island, but she was nice to other people most of the time. You can’t really tell if there is real magic or not, but Piper thinks there is, and you will like the way the story works out for her.
