Emma is in her bed but can’t sleep because of a lot of noises. She looks everywhere until she realizes that it’s the animals in her wallpaper that are making so much noise: the gorilla, the hippo, the elephant. Emma wants them to sleep but they can’t, so she tries to help them.

First, they need to take a bath, and it is fun but too exciting, and nobody can relax. So Emma suggests some hot chocolate, and they make it out of mud. It comes out absolutely disgusting, and nobody is sleepy yet. They try singing, but they get even more excited singing. At the end, Emma has a great idea: a bedtime story! Everyone is very happy as they have never had a bedtime story. So Emma tells them a story, and they are all fast asleep. But now Emma is not sleepy…so the tiger gives her a cuddle, and they all fall asleep. The next morning, all the animals are back to the wallpaper except for the tiger, who is still on Emma’s bed.

I liked this book; the animals trying to fall asleep making noises and disgusting chocolate were really funny.
