50 States: Our America

50 States: Our America is a great non-fiction book about the Unites States of America. The book is divided into multiple sections and has some great info about Native American tribes, European settlement, Westward expansion, and more. The big map on the following pages, which shows the USA of today, will come in handy for some of my school work for sure.

All fifty states are explained in great detail. Some history facts from all the way to the origin of the state and even before are explained, and there are also lots of facts from today’s time. On each page you will also see a little facts box, which shows the abbreviation, capital of the state, nickname, population, state tree, and state bird. US Territories and Commonwealths are also explained over multiple pages, which was really interesting to me. Overall, the book is a great resource but not always so fun to read. I wish it had some more fun facts! It’s great for school work for sure, though! I think kids eight to twelve would find this helpful for homework!!
