You Can’t Be Too Careful!

This book had a very confusing story in it. It was a little bit like a game I play with my mom called “chains”–we invent funny events, one linked to another….This book was just like that, one funny thing leading to another for apparent no reason. It starts with a gardener watching a white rose in its pen closely, making sure it doesn’t escape. And the story goes on with why the gardener is not leaving his post and so forth until the chain of events ends up with the rose having vanished with a compass from her pen. Except that the rose is still there (this got me very confused and quite uninterested in the story at that point), so the chain of events starts all over again with events that went the opposite way from before, to get back to the gardener who is watching the rose but gets blown away by a big rain. And when he’s back, the rose has escaped. All very confusing to me.
