This is an educational, non-fiction, lift-the-flap book about many architectural wonders and works of art from around the world.

The lighthouse of Alexandria is one of my favorite things in this book. It is the first lighthouse ever built (around 280 BC), and it was the tallest building in the world at that time. It was 125 meters tall, located on the Egyptian island of Pharos. During the day, there was a mirror to reflect the light of the sun. Then, during the night, a huge bowl of fire burned at the top that could be seen from 35 miles away!

Machu Pichu is a lost city from a long, long time ago. It is a collection of buildings and terraces (like steps) in the mountains of Peru. Scientists think it was built in the 1450s by the Incas. It was lost for a long time, but in 1911, an American archaeologist rediscovered it. I love that we can learn about history from so long ago!

There is also a pop-out volcano that is really cool. This book is full of cool structures and interesting facts – a MUST READ!!
