Wolf Soldier (Volume 1) (Lightraider Academy)

Wolf Soldier is an adventure novel that draws on Christian beliefs. It is inspired by and set in the world of a scripture-memorization video game. Many of the concepts have been approached indirectly and renamed.

It features a creative, exciting, and action-packed quest by a shepherd turned knight who casts spells by believing in a representation of God. If you are not Christian or familiar with the meaning of scripture it can be easily read just as a novel. I think that Sunday Schools could stock it in their libraries, but normal schools probably should not, because it can be a bit religiously biased. I think it is a marvelous read anyway, so libraries should have copies. I recommend this book to fifth to eighth grade children.

Wolf Soldier alternates perspective between both female and male characters, so both girls and boys can enjoy it. It is non-graphically violent. It is not a book that is good for re-reading, so I don’t recommend purchasing this for your home. I believe that Christian preteens who enjoy knightly tales would like this book the most.
