Wild Ideas: Let Nature Inspire Your Thinking
This story by Elin Kelsey is all about how kids can use nature to get good ideas from animals and solve their own problems. The author explains, “I wrote this book because I marvel at the creative ways in which animals tackle problems in their everyday lives.” I, the reader, am a character in this book. The illustrations are pictures of kids and animals doing things in nature. My favorite part of Wild Ideas was the part where orangutans think, “When orangutans feel puzzled, they stop and think.” I laughed when I read, “Sea otters balance rocks on their bellies, perfect for cracking crabs.” I thought the pictures by Soyeon Kim were colorful and amazing. Young kids who like to write stories will be interested in this beautiful book. Adults who enjoy nature will like this story, too! I think this book is very special because the reader is a character in the story. Here is some good advice: “Problems that need solving will always be part of life. Untame your imagination…A world of wild ideas awaits.”
