My mom read to me Why Do We Cry? Before I heard this story, I could not tell her all of the reasons why people cry; I have only experienced crying when I am sad. After being read this story, I learned that there are many reasons why a person may be crying. You can cry when you’re sad, scared, frustrated, mad, confused, and even when you are happy! There are so many reasons for crying; my mom says that I cry when I’m tired, too. The story in this book is about a boy named Mario asking his mom about why we cry, and his mom tells him in the pages of the rest of the book.

The pictures in the book are a mix of dark, spooky, and sad, but I think that is just because when we cry, it’s not usually because we’re happy, although sometimes it is. The pictures are still fun to look at; they do a good job of telling the story. I feel like I learned a lot after being read this story. I like that, at the end of the book, the author tells us more about crying and tears and shows us how unique tears are to everyone.
