Whisper by Alison Bellringer, and it’s one of the best books I’ve ever read! It’s about a little girl named Britney, who has a really tough life because her dad hurts her and her mom. Britney has to hide from him almost every day, and her mom tries her best to protect her, but they both live in fear. The story is exciting, sad, and sometimes even scary, but it also has moments that make you feel hopeful.

The beginning of the book grabbed my attention right away. Britney’s dad comes home, slamming the door, and she dives under the table to hide. You can really feel her fear and how much she wants to escape. It’s so well-written that I felt like I was there with her, holding my breath. I wanted to help her so badly!

My favorite part is when Britney meets Whisper, a puppy she finds while hiding in the woods. Whisper is so cute and brave, and it feels like she’s the first real friend Britney ever has. Whisper helps Britney feel less alone, and I loved how their friendship grew. If I were in Britney’s place, I would want a dog like Whisper to keep me safe.

Another really powerful moment is when Britney’s mom tells her to keep walking and not look back. It’s so emotional because you can tell her mom loves her but is doing something really hard to give her a chance at a better life. Britney is so brave for someone so small, and I admired how she kept going, even when she was scared and didn’t know what was ahead.

The writing is really good because it makes you see and feel everything so clearly. Whether it’s the tiny, broken-down cottage, the scary woods, or the way Britney clings to hope, the descriptions pull you right into the story. It’s not just a sad book, though—there’s adventure, friendship, and moments of happiness that make it really special.

I liked how the author made the whole story come together and how Britney found people who cared about her a lot. I was a little skeptical about the ending but still enjoyed the story. I would recommend Whisper to anyone who loves stories about courage, animals, and finding hope in tough situations. It’s an unforgettable book, and I think a lot of kids my age would love it. Whisper the puppy is the best part of the story!
