When God Gave Us Words
When God Gave Us Words is a story about how God wanted to give us humans words, but the angels didn’t want to. However, God told them to put words on Earth, and they did. Then, God told the angels to put words in our mouths, and they obeyed. But people were doing bad things with the words that they had been given like saying dirty words and gossiping, so God was about to take the words back from us. Then we started doing good things with words like telling stories, creating poetry, singing lullabies, and praying. God asked the angels if they still wanted to take the words back from us, and the angels said no. Instead, God left us with words.
I recommend this story for adults to read to their children. Older children can also read this book on their own because it is a creative way of explaining how words came to be. I enjoyed reading this story because it reminds me of all the ways that words can be used, for both good and bad. So be careful how you use your words because they are a gift from God.
