I grow fearful at times so this was a perfect book for me. Sometimes, I get so fearful I cry and get really scared. The book tells what to do when fear interferes. A Kid’s Guide to Overcoming Phobias is about using strategies and techniques based on cognitive-behavioral principles.

Based on the book, the most effective way to overcome a phobia is exposure which requires the child to experience the feared object for a period of time long enough for their extreme physical and emotional reactions to dissipate. One of the greatest challenges in helping a child overcome a phobia can be convincing them to hang in there rather than avoid their fear.

One of the things I was scared of is spiders and after realizing that spiders are more afraid of me. I am able to see a spider and not get scared, The key to overcoming a phobia is to not let it make you stop enjoying your life. I really think that all boys and girls would benefit from reading this book.
