When Celeste moves to a small town in Montana, she’s eager to leave her old life behind. She soon meets Vivvy, a quirky writer who quickly becomes Celeste’s friend. After an incident at her school involving the popular boy, Joss, and the school troublemaker, Seth, she and Vivvy begin to write romantic fan fiction about the two boys.

Celeste is content to keep their writing private, but Vivvy keeps pressing her to do more with Joss … and during a dark night on the mountainside, he ends up dead. Celeste was too drunk to remember what happened – so who killed Joss? Was it Vivvy? Or Seth? Or was it the girl everyone is starting to suspect – Celeste herself?

This was a dark, mysterious book with plenty of twists and turns. It is more than just a murder mystery – it is also an exploration into the darker aspects of the town. It is, at points, unnerving and uncomfortable, but all of that adds to the complex web of the mystery. The story is interesting and definitely worth reading, even though I didn’t really connect to Celeste. I would recommend this to anyone who likes dark, deceptive stories!
