“We Are the Goldens” is about girls named Nell and Layla who are sisters who always tell each other everything.

One day, Layla stops telling Nell things and shuts her out. Then Layla starts being mean to her and begins interacting with somebody else and getting to be really close.

Rumors go around about Layla and this new person. Nell starts seeing imaginary neighbors that recently died. No one knows about her imaginings, but she thinks they are real and become a normal part of her life.

Some of my favorite parts of this book are the personalities of the characters and the plot of the book. My favorite character in this book is Nell because she is smart but serious and doesn’t like to mess around. I also liked the part when they had a soccer party for Nell’s team because it reminded me of when I have soccer parties each season.

What I didn’t like about this book is the ending, because Nell decides to tell her mom about Layla’s secret that she might be pregnant. I also didn’t like the way Layla treats Nell in this book because she treats her nasty and very harshly.

I give this book 3.5 stars and I would recommend it to others to read.
