WARP Book 3 The Forever Man
The Forever Man by Eoin Colfer is the third and final book in the WARP series and an exceptionally well-written book. The story begins in Newgate Prison in 1899, but the majority of the story takes place Mandrake, Huntingdonshire in 1647. Garrick, an assassin from the Victorian era who has been teleported by a time machine, attempts to kill Chevie and Riley because they foiled his plans in earlier books. After nearly killing Chevie in Newgate, Garrick accidentally teleports Riley, Chevie and himself to Mandrake in 1647. Believing Garrick nears victory, Isles, who had been waiting for rescue from the future, helps Chevie escape. Eventually, Isles, Chevie and Riley meet Pointer and Professor Charles Smart and plot to defeat Garrick. Will they succeed in their plans?
Like all of the Eoin Colfer novels I have read, The Forever Man is superb. The characters are well drawn, the plot keeps me turning pages, and Colfer even has some humor in his work. For new readers, he also includes a preface which tells the reader the important events that have occurred in the previous books. I would highly recommend The Forever Man to teens who are interested in time-travel fantasy.
