Squirrel is Waiting for winter, but he isn’t even sure what it is. Deer tells him that snow is wet, cold, white and soft. While squirrel is trying to stay awake, hedgehog and bear join him. Neither of them have seen winter before either. He is worried the first snowflake has fallen so they start looking for it. Hedgehog thinks he finds it, and holds up a toothbrush. It is wet, white and cold. Bear thinks he has found it, an old sock, wet, and white, and cold and soft. Soon it starts snowing and they fall asleep for the winter.

I loved Waiting for Winter. I thought it has some silly parts. I laughed out loud when squirrel started to exercise since it reminds me of the squirrels in my trees that drive the dog nuts. It was funny when they say that the snow is a little smelly, but it is really a sock. I liked the cover, it made me want to pick up the book and read it. The art was really neat and I especially liked how they made the snow over the illustrations.
