Voyage of the Frostheart
Ash is an orphan living in Fira Stronghold, one of the last settlements still able to defend themselves against the Leviathans: Hideous, otherworldly creatures that lie in wait beneath the snow outside. His parents were Pathfinders and helped explore uncharted areas and carried messages between Strongholds. Ash has always dreamed of finding them. So when the Pathfinder sleigh Frostheart stops at Fira Stronghold, Ash can’t help but join the crew. With nothing but a mysterious lullaby, a magic power he didn’t know he had, and a couple of new friends, Ash sets out to find his parents.
I really, really like this book! It is post-apocalyptic, but they don’t go into details so it’s not depressing. It is so exciting and has plenty of cliffhangers. The creative descriptions and amazing illustrations really help bring it alive. It is the first book in a trilogy, and the ending will leave you longing for the next book. Overall, I think it is the start of an action-packed, hilarious and amazing new fantasy series. Read it. I insist.
