Valiant
In the action-packed book,Valiant, the daughter of the tailor, Saville, accidentally finds out what it means to be a hero. Her father is sick, and can’t be a tailor anymore, so Saville takes on the responsibility. Disguised as a boy, she works as the tailor to provide for her family. When giants attack her new home, the city of Reggen, Saville accidentally beats the giant scouts in a show of strength and is taken back home as a hero. Eventually, she meets a giant and remembers a legend that tells her the weaknesses of the duke who is leading the attacking giants. She confronts the duke with her giant friend.
I liked the book. It’s not a romance story. I liked that it was written like a diary and gives omniscience over Saville. I enjoyed how it had some fighting, without a full-scale, gruesome, blood and guts, type thing. I disliked that the story took a long time to really play out. And it’s kind of sad how Saville has tragedy in her family. I would have liked it better if there had also been more insight into the other characters of the book.
