Unstoppable The Amazing Story of Bionic Animals is about many different animals that suffered from an injury and found the right person with help, and received the right care. Whether that was a wheelchair, prosthetic leg, or even just a prosthetic beak. The book contains many stories with animals, ranging from dogs and cats to elephants in Africa. I think that the best story in this book was a sea turtle that had been attacked by a shark and lost three of its four flippers. Now, if a sea turtle has lost one of its four flippers, it can be released back into the wild, but if it only has two, it must stay in full care. With one flipper ,this sea turtle could not swim properly to the surface to breathe. So Tom Wilson came up with an idea for this turtle, who is named Allison. He thought that a design similar to a canoe’s keel, which helps guide it straight, might work. He tested his design, and it was a success! Now Allison is happy that she can traverse around in her tank as if she had her lost limbs.

The language in this book is fun in how Furstinger describes the animals’ situations and makes puns out them. One example of these puns is “paw it forward.” The pictures were excellent in the way they show the animals with their helper’s solutions for the injuries. I would recommend this book for all ages if you like a heart-warming story about animals who did not give up — even in their poor state.
