Description

Unfunny Bunny is the relatable story of a young kid (Bunny); on the first day of school, he decides that he needs to choose a personality for the year, and this year he decides to try being funny. Bunny tries his jokes on the class, without success, with little to no laughter. Bunny tries a few times, then thinks he might need to quit. It takes his new friend Hedgehog to convince him to practice and give it some more time. Bunny ends up glad he listened to Hedgehog; by putting in the work, he figured out how to make his classmates feel good, along with himself.

I like that the moral of the story is realistic to many things that happen in people’s lives, and it’s a good reminder that things won’t always come easy without some practice and persistence. Everyone likes a good joke-teller, and Bunny has some good ones in the book; I liked that the last two pages include lots of one-line jokes that are easy to memorize, tell, and understand. The illustrations are full-page and colorful, making each page a pleasure to view.
