Twelve Months of Michigan
I was excited to receive this book because I was born in Michigan. In this book, Pirate Paul and Ana Mae Mouse go on a car trip around Michigan. This book is narrated in the “Twelve days of Christmas ” book style. Each page has a fact about Michigan, like the state bird, state tree, state reptile, state flower, state fish, state mammal, etc. The illustrations about these are very cute. I liked especially liked the pages that showed the different sizes of fish and the parts of a sailboat. It also has pictures of the different knots the sailors use. The page with apples and pumpkins reminded me of fall in Michigan when I went apple and pumpkin picking with my family. In a letter to the readers in the beginning of the book Ana Mae Mouse says this book is purely for giggles. I did not find the book that funny though some of the pictures are. This book is okay to read once and might be interesting to children who don’t know anything or want to learn some new things about Michigan.
