Sophie isn’t great at magic, but she wants to learn. So when her family wants her to attend a fancy magic academy, Sophie tries her best to impress her relatives, although her critical Auntie Lan is overly harsh toward Sophie. Then she makes a magical accident—a water dragon named Lir is trapped in human form. Lir is very skilled at magic and is soon liked. Lir offers to teach Sophie magic, but the only problem is, if Sophie fixes her mistake, she might not see Lir again. Will she fix everything or will Lir be stuck forever?

The art is super cute! I love how the illustrator drew all the characters in this book. The story is great as well, but the art makes the story seem real. I like how the water is so beautifully detailed and colored. The little creatures featured in the book are adorable! My favorite character is Sophie because of her expressive personality and the fact that she’s drawn so cute. I also like Lir’s personality and how patient and understanding he was toward Sophie. I recommend this book to fantasy fans who are into tide pools and dragons.
