This is Not a Love Letter
This is Not a Love Letter by Kim Purcell was a beautiful and very inspirational book. I loved the sense of adventure and mystery behind this novel. It follows Jessie, a senior in high school. She and her boyfriend, Chris, decide to take a break from their relationship for a simple week, just to gain some “perspective,” as Jessie puts it. But when Chris goes missing close to the weekend, Jessie and a few friends set out searching for him. It becomes clear that this may be a bigger problem than what they thought. They start getting more people involved. The town they live in is not very racially inclusive. Chris is actually one of the only black kids. Jessie starts to worry that race may have something to do with the group of kids that jumped Chris a while ago. With everyone in the town looking, Jessie has a sinking feeling that something deeper is going on. After finding more clues, the mystery is a whole lot more intriguing and frightening than what they originally thought. This was a very interesting book, and I really enjoyed reading this story. I gave the book four stars overall. Thank you.
