Think and Make Like an Artist: Art Activities for Creative kids
Art sets the tone for Think & Make Like an Artist. This book is about painting and sculpting. But it is not just about painting and sculpting–it’s also about designing, illustrating, papercraft, building, working together, and shooting. I mean shooting photographs–that is, taking pictures. Art is wonderful because art is one way of making ideas come to life. The authors of this book show you lots of different tips for how to do these forms of art. So this isn’t a book with a plot. It’s more of a how-to book. One of the coolest things I saw in this book was called “The Obliteration Room.” An artist named Yayoi Kusama asked members of an audience to place dot stickers–dozens of them!–in a completely white room. It kind of looks like something colorful exploded! I think I would like to try illustrating a story. Readers of all ages who are interested in art would probably like this book.
