The Wrinkled Crown
In this story, Linny lives in some magical hills. The magic in those hills says that every girl in that village will be taken away by the voices if she touches a lourka, a kind of musical instrument, before she is twelve. But she makes a lourka and touches it, and that’s bad even though she made it. And then, Linny was in the forest with her friend Sarah, and Sarah says, “whatever happens to you may as well happen to me,” so the voices carry Sarah away, because in those magical hills whatever is said has a way of coming true. So Linny has to go into the forest and find her friend.
This book is an adventure book and it is about friendship. It is really fun to read, even though it doesn’t have pictures, because the book paints word pictures for you. Linny is a very strong character; she’s very determined to do things. She’s not very nice to her companion, she’s kind of rude to him, but they find a way to work together. I also like the cat who helps her. If you like fantasy, you will like this book too!
