Once upon a time, a girl named Paheli escaped from a horrible fate. Running without a destination, she came across a strange boy with starry eyes who threw her a mysterious box before disappearing. The box leads to the Between, a place of magic which can be used to travel anywhere in the world. Paheli uses her powers to help girls in situations like she was in, and some of them eventually become the Wild Ones. Years later, the boy, Taraana, reappears, and he is in danger. Someone who wants to control the Between is after him and if he controls the Between, then he controls the Wild Ones’ powers as well. They set out to stop their shadowy foe and save Taraana, but will they succeed?

This was an unusual and captivating feminist fantasy. I enjoyed the dynamics and banter of the girls, especially their fondness for food. It was entertaining to read! I do think that some of the characters were underdeveloped, and that only Paheli and Valentina had real personalities. I loved the bond between those two girls, though. The conclusion was a bit too forced for my taste, but overall, I liked the rest of the story.
