This book is about the Washington Monument. The monument is a five hundred and fifty foot tall tower made of marble and granite. It is made in honor of President George Washington. The first part of the book talks about George Washington. This book gives myths and facts surrounding the monument and President George Washington. Such as, most people think the monument is the tallest building in Washington D.C.; but it isn’t. There is a church that is three hundred foot tall but since it is on a very big hill it is one hundred feet taller than the Washington Monument. The monument took thirty-six years to build and has been repaired four times since its completion.

There were a lot of interesting facts in this book. There are photos, timelines, or drawings on every page. The photos are great because they help me to understand what I am reading. After reading this book, and another book in the series The Lincoln Memorial Myths, Legends and Facts, I now want to visit Washington D.C. to see these monuments myself.
