The War I Finally Won
I think that The War I Finally Won was a great book. This story is set during WWII, and it is about a girl named Ada. Her mother was a cruel person who hated Ada because of her clubfoot. She was born with a foot that was twisted around, and the bottom of her foot faced the sky. Her mother was horrendous to her about it. However, since she died, Ada and her brother, Jamie, are now under the care of Susan. Ada now has to deal with the war, a new German girl named Ruth who has to live with them, and the war within herself. This was a very good book, and I liked how the genre was historical fiction. I also like how this story was set in somewhere other than the United States. It was set in England. Putting it in Europe, which was much more involved in the war than America, made the story a bit more interesting. You got to see what it really was like in the middle of a war. I also like how the protagonist has internal as well as external struggles, so everything isn’t happy and peachy like other stories. You can see the characters develop a bit more when you can see the internal struggles and how the character chooses to overcome it. Overall, The War I Finally Won was an amazing book.
