The Visitor by Antje Damm is a story about Elise. Elise is afraid of everything–spiders, people, trees. She also liked her house to be neat and tidy. One day, a paper airplane flew inside. A little boy named Emil knocked on the door to get his airplane back and to use the bathroom. Elise doesn’t have visitors because she’s afraid of people. Elise decided to let Emil inside. Once inside, Elise read the boy a book and talked about a picture. Emil was hungry, so Elise made him some bread with butter. Emil returned home, and Elise decided to make a paper airplane. I really liked how the Antje Damm made the paper house and took pictures of the paper house as the set. I really liked all Elise’s changing expressions. I liked how the story is about friendship, kindness, and braveness. I thought Emil was brave to go inside a stranger’s house.
