The Twelve Days of Christmas: A Peek-Through Picture Book
This book reminds me of a book I reviewed last year called Roc and Roe’s Twelve Days of Christmas because they are both based on the same song that many people already know. Except there is a difference between the two books and how they use the song lyrics. For example, a line from the book I read last year is “six festive fairies.” That, of course, is replaced in this book with the usual line “six geese a-laying.” I forgot to tell you that this is a “peek-through” book. That means that you can peek through the book’s pages. As you continue to read the book there are more and more cut-out parts to enjoy. I love it when they have elves in this Christmas carol peek through book. See the magic…The illustrations by Britta Teckentrup look like another author, Chris Raschka, painted them. I have enjoyed his illustrations, and the look of this book reminded me of that. I think that boys and girls of any age who like Christmas carols will really enjoy this book.
